The above quotes are fairly well known. Over the years I have revisited my own reasons for writing, drawing on these quotes and others for inspiration. But I found it impossible to land on just one reason.
Lately, many writers on Substack have shared the various reasons why they are called to write. One reason, as stated by Robert of Musings From A Broken Heart was to help people rest. And how beautiful! I love the idea of writing to create a space that brings peace and comfort.
Reading about my fellow writers’ reasons for writing caused me to once again reflect on my own. I realized that why I write and why I choose to share my writing are slightly different.
