This seed of an idea has finally sprouted. Finally pushed young, green tendrils up through the soil. Writing letters has always been one of my favorite means of communication. There’s magic in slowing down and taking the time to reflect on each word before putting the pen to paper and writing. Snail mail is loved by many but received by few. I’ve decided to change that.
Hi! I’m Caitlin Gemmell. Writer, published poet, fiber artist, witch. Most of you reading this will have found me through my Substack newsletter, Musings of a Selkie Witch, where I write about creativity, finding magic in the ordinary, witchy things, nature connections, the importance of stories, and share my poetry and news about my writing career.
With my birthday just around the corner, I decided it is time to birth this new project. letters from a selkie witch is a series of physical letters sent from my home to yours. Each letter will be full of magic. As much as I want to offer it to all my subscribers, I just don’t have time or money to be able to do so. Instead, I am offering it as a special bonus for my paid subscribers. If you are a paid subscriber and you want to receive letters from me, you will need to subscribe separately to letters from a selkie witch. There will be no extra cost. It is included with your existing monthly, or yearly, subscription. I set it up this way because I know not every paid subscriber will want to receive physical letters. You can subscribe below. * Edit: There actually isn’t an option to subscribe to letters from a selkie witch separate from my regular newsletter. If you are a paid subscriber to my main newsletter (Musings of a Selkie Witch) and wish to receive these magical letters in the mail, please email me at caitgemmell@gmail.com and we can get this set up.
letters from a selkie witch won’t be delivered by owl post. They won’t be delivered by my hens, or my wild bird friends. They will be delivered the good old-fashioned way, by USPS (or whatever mail carrier is used in your country of residence). I promise this won’t make them any less magical. Each one will be absolutely steeped in my rose-stained poetry breed of magic.
With love and rose-stained magic,
Caitlin Gemmell (the selkie witch)
