September might be my favorite month here in upstate New York. There is still an abundance of blooms, the weather is mild, and there is a gentleness about September that speaks to my introverted soul.
This month has brought lots of good things too. After a hectic summer, I am finding a new rhythm that makes more sense for my life. A garden plot is available for me to work in at my community garden, my son and I started our homeschool year, I’m back to a more consistent schedule with my writing, and I returned to creating my rose-stained poetry artworks.
Now that the nights are cold, I have sorted through all my summer things and have packed away most of my summer clothes. This simple act, though seemingly insignificant on the surface, created space in my life for new things.
As we near the autumn equinox, there is a new energy I am picking up on, a feeling that beautiful and unexpected things are on the horizon. Perhaps you feel this way in autumn too. Autumn is like that first bite of a crisp, sweet apple.
Every day, I have been jotting down a list of enchanting things. I urge you to do the same. What does September look like? Smell like? Taste like? What tiny, magical moments can you notice as we transition from summer to autumn?
September for me is sapphire skies, goldenrod and asters, the first golden leaves, the scent of new apples and pears, the first whiff of woodsmoke (yay for cold nights), crisp pages in a new notebook, hot coffee, pastries, the soft fabric of a favorite cardigan.
September is also a return to creating art. Here are some of my rose-stained poetry artworks. Some are available to purchase, and some have already been claimed. Send me a message if you are interested in any of these pieces or want me to create one just for you.
Each one is a work of art and a spell. Dove art is a spell for peace and healing, lunar hare is a spell for prosperity and magic, wolfhound is for protection, lace stitched poem is for new beginnings, stitched scarf is for love, cardinal is for vitality and love, purple stitched slip is for beauty, and cat with crow (work in progress) is for finding your purpose.
I have created wearable art/wearable spells such as the love spell scarf below, and the beauty spell slip. I have also created altar cloths, protective talismans, stitched poetry spells, and more.
Next time, I have a Muse Monday feature, and that will be my last letter for the month of September. Letters from a Selkie Witch go out next week to my paid subscribers. To find out more about how you can get one of these magical letters, click here.
Also, True North has been out for nearly one year! Help me celebrate by sharing word about my little book of poetry, or by purchasing a copy for yourself or a friend. And Spinning Hair into Gold is on sale for $3.81! I’m not sure how long it will be on sale, so now’s the time to get it in paperback if you’ve been wanting one.
Best wishes,
Cait
A beautiful post, thank you! I love your list of enchanting September details. Your art is also lovely. Wishing you autumnal blessings!
This is so delightful! Is your hare artwork still available?
